A Thousand Horses

A Thousand Horses

Frontman Michael Hobby (23) and lead guitarist Bill Satcher (22), the co-founders and creative conspirators of A Thousand Horses, have been crafting rock music infused with traditional American flavors of the southeastern US for over half a decade. A Thousand Horses blends blues, R and B, and good old slashing guitars, bass & drums in an elixir that comes out tasting of Small Faces and “Exile”-era Rolling Stones.

The two became good friends after meeting in a local music store back in 2003 in their hometown of Newberry, SC. With a mutual admiration for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and a slew of other classic rock records, it wasn't before long the first semblance of what is now A Thousand Horses started taking shape. Having cut their teeth in the southern rock club circuit, Michael and Bill never let an empty room slow them down. This is a band founded upon the collective love of the creative process. "Mission statements are for high schools and politicians - we're a rock n roll band" explained Michael when asked about his goals for A Thousand Horses.

Fast forward to 2010 - After several lineup changes over the years, Michael and Bill have rounded out the band with Bill's cousin Graham DeLoach (22) on bass, Zach Brown (24) on guitar and Shane Lenzen (24) on drums.

With the August 17, 2010 release of their debut, self-titled EP on DGC/Interscope/Van Howes Records, A Thousand Horses are positioned at the starting gate for a busy second half of 2010 and beyond.

The Aquarian Gives A Thousand Horses EP an 'A'

The Aquarian has reviewed A Thousand Horses' self-titled EP and has given it an 'A.' Check out an excerpt from the article below and click the link for the full story via The Aquarian.

The Aquarian - Albums - A Thousand Horses

"What is most unique about the band is their way of flawlessly combining a bit of R&B with sounds from the bass and drums that resemble those of rock legends like the Rolling Stones. A Thousand Horses’ ability to show off their skills is evident in their naturally harmonizing music. The record is undoubtedly exactly what a rock record should be: fun, simple, and lyrically unforgettable.

In A Word: Classic"

Check Out the Review of A Thousand Horses on The Deli!

Read the review of A Thousand Horses' self-titled EP on The Deli. Check out an excerpt from the article below and click the link for the full read!

The Deli Magazine - Review of A Thousand Horses', "A Thousand Horses"

Each track seems to channel a different ghost of rock past, most notably Tom Petty and Led Zeppelin. The lyrics of many of the songs on the EP solidify their “been there, done that” attitude of touring musicians, who both mock and adore the lifestyle they’ve chosen. The music, however, is the actual proof that these guys know what they’re doing. The natural harmony of the electric guitar, bass and drums make it evident that this band has been doing more than jamming in a garage.
